If your dog won’t eat it is referred to as anorexia. This is very different then anorexia nervosa, which is the eating disorder found in humans. Anorexia in dogs describes a complete loss of appetite. This can indicate illness and it is important to seek veterinary care, especially if you notice your dog’s eating habits have changed. It is very important to promptly respond to dogs that generally eat well weather they are puppies, small dogs or older dogs. Most dogs can go a couple days without food with no significant repercussions but it should be addressed as early as possible. Illness, recent change in environment or travel, vaccinations or behavior issues could all be reasons for this loss of appetite.
